I am India, the creative force behind Thistle & String. In 2017, I established this venture from my top-floor flat in Tunbridge Wells, all while juggling night shifts as a barmaid to seed the initial growth of my business. During those early days, I would diligently transport buckets of flowers up and down three flights of stairs, often integrating the blooms into my living space, creating an enviably fragrant atmosphere.
Since its inception, Thistle & String has evolved significantly, catering to a diverse range of occasions, from large-scale weddings to events, shop openings, and funerals, among others.
My approach to floristry is deeply personal, stemming from a genuine passion for crafting beautiful sculptures and bouquets as a dedicated career. Each wedding or installation occupies my thoughts for extensive periods, with meticulous consideration given to color combinations, refining them repeatedly until achieving what I perceive as perfection.
In contrast to conventional floristry training, my journey has been unconventional and shaped by a background in fine art, specializing in sculpture. I honed my skills working for esteemed florists in London, including Petersham Nurseries, Paul Thomas, Moyses Stevens, and Floward.
